The AA man said it was highly unlikely to be the turbo, but the wooooing noise did sound like it. The car is a 57 plate, it has been fully serviced and MOTd, and has done 45k miles. So the halfords guy said he would have a look. And he ran diagnostics etc on the car, and they apparently came back clear/negative.

Hi, I have a 2009 Ford Focus 1.8 TDCI with 38,000 miles covered. 3,000 miles ago, at motorway speed of 70mph and having covered 60 miles, a misfire started. hi there i have my ford focus 1.8 tdci on a 55 plate i do alot of motor way miles. the cars have 180.000 miles on it its been running fine up intill now when the powertrain malfunction light come on and went into limp mode. 208 posts · Joined 2005. #2 · Jun 23, 2014. Hi, Need to clarify which engine is in your car! Yes, I know it is a 1.8 TDCI. There is a LYNX engine version also fitted to the TDCI model, which dates back years in design. Actually that engine is fiited to those small Ford white vans used by builders .
